v1.1 · Edition 001
Verified April 2026
dispute-ops.com
⚠ URGENT

Visa US/Canada deadline changed to 9 days (effective 21 July 2025 — previously 30 days). Adyen's internal submission window is ~7 days — shorter than the network deadline. Check your PSP dashboard immediately on receipt.

⚠ NEW

VAMP replaced VDMP + VFMP (April 2025). Thresholds: 0.9% dispute ratio · 0.3% TC40 ratio. Enforcement: October 2025. Still monitoring VDMP/VFMP numbers? You are managing to the wrong floor. Mastercard MDMP: 1.5% + 100/mo (Standard) · 3.0% + 1,000/mo (Excessive).

02 / PRE-DISPUTE INTERCEPT — stop the chargeback before it files
Verifi RDR
Visa
Auto-refund before dispute files — no chargeback, no ratio hit. Non-contestable: configure refund rules carefully or you'll surrender disputes you'd win.
Ethoca Alert
MC / Amex
Refund within ~72h window → no chargeback, no ratio hit. Miss the window, refund after formal dispute → still hits your ratio. Timing is everything.
CE 3.0
Visa
Submit 2+ prior undisputed txns from same card as compelling evidence. Strongest friendly-fraud rebuttal available — most merchants never pull this data.
CDRN
Visa / MC
Merchant-triggered pre-dispute notification. Lets you refund or provide evidence before the chargeback formally files. Requires Verifi/Ethoca enrollment.
03 / REASON CODES — what the note field won't tell you
VISA
10.4CNP Fraud
ARes=A ≠ full shift — some issuers reject it. Only ARes=Y is bulletproof.
13.1Not Received
Carrier confirmation + address match wins <$100 without signature. Network rule.
13.2Canceled Recurring
Policy must appear at checkout. Confirmation email is too late — Visa ignores it.
13.3Not as Described
Use archived listing from purchase date. Post-sale page edits are discarded.
13.6Credit Not Processed
Submit both credit TXN ID + original TXN ID. Missing either = automatic loss.
MASTERCARD
4837No Auth (Fraud)
ARes=A accepted (unlike Visa). Weaker but sufficient for MC liability shift.
4853Not as Described
'Substantially similar' standard — less strict than Visa's exact-match 13.3.
4855Not Received
GPS delivery timestamp beats carrier scan if delivery address is disputed.
4841Canceled Recurring
Notice sent >7d before billing = win. Zero notice = automatic loss, no exceptions.
4863Doesn't Recognize
Pull 90-day purchase history — prior txns same card/IP is the strongest rebuttal.
AMEX
F29CNP Fraud
RFI (120d window) ≠ dispute (14d window). Ignoring RFI forfeits the dispute.
C08Not Received
IP + timestamp + session ID beats 'I never downloaded it'. Pull logs on receipt.
C28Canceled Recurring
If T&Cs accepted at enrollment, no explicit cancel required — Amex allows auto-renew.
C31Not as Described
Amex uses archived listing from purchase date — match that version, not current.
C02Credit Not Processed
Credit TXN + original settlement both required. Credit receipt alone = loss.
DISCOVER
7030CNP Fraud
Discover honors 3DS liability shift more consistently than Visa/MC in practice.
4755Not Received
Carrier confirmation sufficient under $100 — signature not always required.
4541Canceled Recurring
Only the enrollment policy counts. Post-signup emails are inadmissible.
4553Quality Dispute
Spec comparison vs. purchase-date listing. Vague quality claims rarely win.
8002Credit Not Received
Same as Visa 13.6: credit TXN ID + original settlement. Both required.
